Chapter 211: Not Letting You Leave
Late at night in the boxing gym.
Ye Zhen had fully experienced Ye Fuli's terrible mercy-sparing technique and successfully earned her third chance to make a fool of herself.
Even the dog system couldn't help but marvel—the two of them were becoming more and more in sync.
"It's impressive that such blatant cheating could pass the boss's inspection."
"Your boxing talent is actually quite promising, Ye Zhen."
Ye Fuli removed her boxing gloves, grabbed a bottle of water, and handed it to Ye Zhen.
Over the past ten-odd minutes, she had worked hard to let Ye Zhen experience the thrill of facing a boxing expert. Ye Zhen must be thrilled.
Yet upon hearing this praise, Ye Zhen felt as if she were being subtly criticized and couldn't help but snort.
"Hmph! Fine, do I not know whether I'm good at this or not?"
Ye Fuli pointed to her own cheek and said with deadpan seriousness, "Look, you've even made my face swell up."
"Are you sure it's swollen and not just red?"
Ye Fuli chuckled softly. "You pinned me down and beat me. My whole body aches now. You really pack a punch."
"Ye Fuli, you never stop mocking me!"
"It's not mockery—it's heartfelt flattery."
…
For the next few days, Ye Zhen chose to stay at the company.
After all, she'd set up a very comfortable little nest for herself here—everything she needed, even several maids in white stockings…
Whenever she spotted those maids, Ye Fuli's expression turned sour.
Her gaze suggested each of them owed her two kidneys.
Unable to bear that look any longer, Ye Zhen finally revealed the truth: "The company's running a game promotion lately. These girls are cosplayers."
"Then why are they also serving you tea, massaging your shoulders and legs, and even performing otaku dances for you?"
Ye Zhen: "…"
Well, she could explain that part.
But judging by Ye Fuli's expression, she clearly didn't want to hear any explanations.
"Well, I can't exactly ask Miss Ye Fuli to dance for me—that would be so rude."
When explanations fall flat, there are other ways to break the deadlock.
Ye Zhen shot Ye Fuli a sly glance with a look of hurt innocence.
Oh, that pitiful look.
It could make someone lose control and do things against their will.
Ye Fuli took a deep breath and rubbed her temples. "What's so interesting about this? Absurd."
"But I think it's quite beautiful…"
"You're not allowed to think it's pretty."
"…Huh?"
When she left the office, Ye Fuli was still defiant. But by afternoon, Ye Zhen heard some news from Zhao Mengde.
"That Ye Fuli—she actually asked me to teach her some 'Meow Meow Dance'? Is she serious?! I'm a retired elite soldier, a woman of steel. How could I possibly dance something like that?" Zhao Mengde was furious.
Ye Zhen, however, looked utterly bewildered.
After a long pause.
Ye Zhen pressed her hand to her forehead, sighing helplessly, "Miss Zhao, could you perhaps take off that cat-girl maid outfit before you say things like that?"
"Ahem! Well, this is just for fun… It's not really a cat-girl maid outfit, just a novel little dress."
"Then what about the fur on your head?"
"Heaven knows, Ye Zhen, it's a hair clip!"
"Hehehe~"
Ye Zhen chuckled a few times, confirming that Ye Fuli hadn't mistaken her teacher—she'd found the right one.
How did Zhao Mengde, that legendary soldier, end up like this?
Couldn't he live up to his own claim of being a woman of steel?
It was embarrassing enough for her as his employer.
"Don't teach her any nonsense." Ye Zhen grabbed Zhao Mengde's cat tail, eliciting a soft yelp from her. "She's a serious person who never understands jokes. Don't cause trouble."
"Eep eep eep~ I know, I know! Let go!"
After snatching the cat tail back, Zhao Mengde's face flushed crimson as she scurried away.
This puzzled Ye Zhen.
It's just a tail accessory! Like it grew out of her own body or something—why such a dramatic reaction?
Yet Ye Zhen's warning came a little too late.
Later that evening, Ye Fuli entered Ye Zhen's office carrying the dance gear she'd borrowed from Zhao Mengde, solemnly closing the door behind her.
……
……
"Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant."
After that night's office dance performance, Ye Zhen declared she had truly opened the door to a whole new world.
No wonder she'd been targeted by this world.
Look at what she'd done to the leading lady!
"Miss Ye Fuli, um, could you perform that again tomorrow?"
"No."
Ye Fuli had been in Nancheng for over a week now, utterly addicted to her games with Ye Zhen day after day, feeling utterly wasted.
This was not part of her life plan.
She needed to get out and earn money fast—to buy Ye Zhen houses everywhere, clothes, and all the things she loved.
How could someone who wanted a wife be so lazy?
This was the perfect partner she'd finally found after living two lifetimes.
"I need to get back to work."
"Where are you going?!" Ye Zhen panicked, grabbing her arm. "You can't leave! If you go, I'll die…"
The double meaning of those words was too much.
Ye Fuli froze slightly, her ears flushing crimson.
"You…"
Ye Zhen, do you need me that much?
This makes me so happy, I'd be tempted to conquer the entire world just for you.
Only then did Ye Zhen realize the predatory nature of her own words. She quickly spat twice and said, "I'm not safe right now! Someone is trying to harm me. Do you understand? Only when I'm with you can I sleep…"
Those words were better left unsaid.
Ye Fuli's face flushed visibly.
She cleared her throat heavily and slowly pulled her arm away. "Give me a moment. You're so infatuated with me… I might just die of excitement."
"Hey! Don't get excited just yet. You're going abroad, right? I'll take leave and go with you~"
Before Ye Zhen could finish speaking, Ye Fuli truly fainted.
This scared Ye Zhen half to death…
However, according to the old Chinese medicine doctor at the clinic downstairs from the company, it was simply overexcitement causing her blood pressure to spike, leading to an instant faint.
"What did you say to her? Don't ever shock her like that again! A beauty like me needs to maintain the delicate damsel persona. Don't make me carry you through the streets!" Zhao Mengde, who had carried Ye Fuli downstairs for treatment, couldn't help but say, "If you must shock her, at least wait until nighttime?"
"I… didn't say anything."
Ye Zhen felt utterly frustrated.
She genuinely hadn't said anything.
"I just said I wanted to take time off to go abroad with her for a while."
"That's it?"
"That's all."
Zhao Mengde scratched his head, looking utterly baffled.jpg.
She found it hard to believe Ye Fuli could be so emotionally fragile. It was just Ye Zhen asking to go out with her—what was the big deal?
"If she can't handle this, what if you actually agree to go with her? Won't she get so excited she'll die?"
Ye Zhen thought there was some truth to that and immediately declared, "Then I'll never agree to it."
The moment those words left her mouth, Ye Fuli, who had just begun to regain consciousness, fainted again.
For her, this repeated blow was simply unbearable.
Of course, what tormented her most were Ye Zhen’s words echoing relentlessly in her mind—things like "If you leave, I’ll die" and "I can only sleep when I’m with you"…
This was the first time, outside of that moment, that Ye Zhen had expressed such raw need for her.
Perhaps this was what they meant by being so happy it could kill you.
Her greatest wish was about to come true…
