Chapter 115: Ye Fuli, Redesign Your Remaining Life

Creak—

The carriage door swung open.

Ye Fuli took Ye Zhen's hand and stepped inside.

They sat down on chairs on the same side.

After a slight sway, the gondola began to move slowly.

The journey from start to finish would take a full hour. They would cross the broad river, ascend to the mountaintop, then descend gradually to the base of another peak.

During the day, the scenery would be breathtaking.

But now it was night.

Below lay a pitch-black expanse.

The only sights were the dazzling city lights in the distance and the full view of the amusement park.

Ye Fuli gripped Ye Zhen's hand tightly, a vague sense of unease gnawing at her heart. Yet… she couldn't pinpoint the source of her anxiety.

"Ye Zhen, will you ever leave me?"

Ye Fuli suddenly blurted out this question, causing Ye Zhen to visibly freeze for a moment.

Was this the intuition of the female lead?

She hadn't done anything yet!

Ye Zhen forced down her inner panic and replied calmly, "No, I won't."

"You're lying! You're lying to me again!"

Ye Fuli coughed heavily twice, closing her eyes.

"I keep feeling like you're going to leave me again. Worrying about this, I can't sleep at night. No matter what I do, I can't find peace…"

Her voice sounded weak.

"I keep wondering what I need to do to keep you here forever, forever…"

Ye Zhen glanced at her, gently tugging until she freed her hand from Ye Fuli's grasp.

They were about to cross the river.

At this point, continuing the pretense was utterly meaningless.

Before leaving, Ye Zhen wanted to make things clear.

Whether Ye Fuli believed her or not.

After a moment of silence, she said, "Ye Fuli, have you ever considered that I might not be the Ye Zhen you once knew?"

Ye Fuli's body visibly trembled.

She opened her eyes, her gaze fixed on Ye Zhen with a haunting intensity. "What do you mean?"

"It means the Ye Zhen you knew is dead! She died under that bridge! I'm not her. I'm just a wandering spirit who happened to possess this body. That's all."

The existence of the system couldn't be revealed, but her own origins could be shared.

The dog system fell silent.

It hadn't anticipated the host pulling such a massive move at this moment.

Judging by its assessment of Ye Fuli's current physical and mental state, she was already at her limit. This devastating blow was something she simply couldn't withstand.

To kill someone and then crush their spirit—it was too brutal.

"You're lying!"

Ye Fuli gasped for breath, glaring at Ye Zhen with clenched teeth.

Such a ferocious expression was a rare sight.

"Stop talking nonsense! I won't let you say another word!"

But at this moment, how could Ye Zhen possibly comply with her demand?

"Ye Fuli, with your intelligence, you must have noticed the difference between me and the 'Ye Zhen' you know, right? Nothing escapes your keen eyes. You can decipher every nuance in my gaze, see through every lie I tell—how could you possibly not realize the soul inside this shell has changed?"

Ye Zhen smiled, gazing at Ye Fuli whose eyes were wide with shock.

It was rare to see Ye Fuli wear such an expression.

So Ye Fuli could be afraid after all?

"You refuse to acknowledge your own judgment, unwilling to back down even when you know you might be wrong. Ye Fuli, don't you find this disgusting and despicable?"

The words stung like needles.

Ye Fuli had long noticed Ye Zhen's transformation, yet she preferred to dismiss it as a symptom of schizophrenia rather than accept that the shell of Ye Zhen no longer contained her original soul.

Even though the person before her now was utterly different from the one she once knew…

Ye Fuli's face turned pale, and she could barely breathe.

All strength drained from her body.

All her thoughts snapped in an instant.

"I was forced to endure all the malice you directed at the original Ye Zhen."

"I was forced to endure your insults, threats, and confinement."

"I was forced to endure the agony of playing a role for you every day, fawning over you, even atoning for things I never did until my death."

"Ye Fuli, do you truly believe this is right?"

"You've always pursued fairness and perfection, yet all you've done is force your malice onto a completely innocent person. Do you really think this is right?"

Ye Zhen spoke these words, then suddenly laughed with a sense of release.

At that very moment, she had quietly snapped her thumb and used this method to free her hand from the handcuffs.

Had she not spoken these words, Ye Fuli would have watched her every move with extreme vigilance, making this impossible.

Now, Ye Fuli hugged herself tightly, her body trembling.

The doubts that had plagued her found an utterly unimaginable answer.

Her mind went blank, a temporary ringing filling her ears. Even the sound right beside her seemed distant.

What had she done?

This truth—she had known it all along, should have guessed it long ago…

Why had she never dared to confirm it?

"I once loved you, Ye Fuli."

Ye Zhen sighed softly.

She didn't know what true love really was.

But she believed it was at least a state that brought comfort to both parties, not mutual suffering.

"I loved you when you secretly protected me."

"When we cooked together, studied together, drank together—I loved you."

"On that night behind the school hill, I loved you."

"I loved your beautiful face, your intelligence and strength, even your stubbornness, your little quirks…"

Ye Zhen stepped back slowly and opened the cable car door.

"Ye Fuli, you personally erased every ounce of love and forgiveness I had for you. Had you ever truly listened to me just once, we wouldn't have ended up like this."

The sound of chains clattering to the floor echoed.

Ye Fuli jerked her head up, her eyes pleading.

The once-arrogant Feng Aotian now wept uncontrollably.

She realized what she was about to lose.

Yet this crushing blow, compounded by days of sleeplessness and exhaustion, made her legs give way. She couldn't stand.

She forced herself to rise, only to collapse with a thud onto the floor.

"Ye Zhen, no, don't… I'm sorry! Don't leave, don't abandon me… We, we can start over…"

The wind howled across the river, rushing toward her frail, weakened form.

Ye Zhen's face bore a serene smile.

"If you truly seek justice as you claim, then approach the rest of your life with a sincere heart of repentance. Ye Fuli, what you owe me isn't something you can repay by killing yourself right away. I don't want to see you down there too soon."

"No, don't!"

Ye Zhen slowly released her grip on the doorframe.

Her body tilted backward, vanishing into the vast night in an instant.

In those few seconds suspended in the air, Ye Zhen heard Ye Fuli's piercing wails of grief.

[Host, are you ready?]

"Of course I am. Hurry up."

[Would you like your appearance restored to its original state, or slightly enhanced or diminished?]

"What the hell do you think? Upgrade it, damn it! Give me a massive upgrade!"

[Where would you like to land?]

"Hmm… Doesn't matter. Just somewhere with nice scenery, low prices, and lots of people!"
